Algolysis Ltd (www.algolysis.com) is a research, technology, and innovation SME focusing on tackling real-life problems by devising state-of-the-art algorithmic and engineering solutions. An active member of Cyprus’ and EU’s innovation ecosystem, Algolysis is currently looking to expand its team with a Research Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge R&D projects across domains such as data analytics, machine learning, and computational sciences.
As a Research Engineer at Algolysis, you will play a central role in designing, implementing, and validating novel methodologies and solutions in collaboration with our interdisciplinary team. You will work on a variety of projects, ranging from data processing and analysis to the development and evaluation of machine learning models, while contributing to the exploration and testing of innovative scientific ideas.
Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing algorithms, software tools, and prototypes for R&D projects.
- Collecting, cleaning, and processing structured and unstructured data.
- Prototyping, testing, and validating new approaches to scientific and technical challenges.
- Developing, training, and evaluating ML/AI models and analytics pipelines when required.
- Preparing experimental results, writing technical documentation, and contributing to research publications and proposals.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate research outputs into practical solutions.
- Staying current with emerging technologies and contributing new ideas to ongoing and future projects.
Skills & Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming skills in Python (or similar).
- Experience with data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Ability to design and execute experiments, analyze results, and report findings.
- Good technical writing and communication skills.
- Creative, analytical mindset with a passion for solving scientific and technical challenges.
Would be awesome to have
- Experience contributing to EU or nationally funded research projects.
- Familiarity with cloud or distributed computing environments.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages (C/C++, R).
- Previous publications in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
Type of Contract
Full time (equivalent of 40 hours a week)
